FAMILY NAMES DERIVED FROM NICKNAMES BASED ON PSYCHOLOGICAL AND MORAL TRAITS

Abstract

The current anthroponymic system is a linguistic reality which was set up as a result of an extensive natural historical evolution. Mastering today’s anthroponymic system may result in a consistent, coherent and correct description of the evolution of the (Romanian and French) anthroponymy from the era of the first documentary attestations until today. This article will focus on the family names that originate from different nicknames which denote some psychological and moral peculiarities, mirroring the relationships between man and the social environment he lives in.
